Sunsets and Swingsets...
Today, I was driving home from work along the coast of Lake Eerie (something I didn't realize was so close) and out my window was the most beautiful sunset, probably one of the magnificent things I have ever seen. I almost got my little car into an accident because I was literally in awe of what I saw. I must say that I am a fan of all sunsets regardless of their color, but this one was as if God pasted those colors across the Ohio sky specifically for me to see. Pinks and purples with the slightest hint of orange. Perfection in Sunset form. In thinking about it, I've decided that we are all a lot like sunsets. Colors chosen and mixed to perfection by our Maker and displayed to show His glory. I am a sunset.
Also, on the way home, I drove through a lower class section of Cleveland. The streets were lined with rundown apartment buildings, all surrounded with poorly manicured shrubs and newly planted trees. It was one of those neighborhoods that your grandma would lock the doors while driving through. Anyway, I was stopped at a red light right next to a apartment playground. There had to be at least 15 children romping around this park. All dispersed on various playground equipment, including the infant in the baby swing being pushed by what appeared to be her older brother. There were several mothers sitting on benches talking to each other. I imagined them discussing the trials of the terrible twos, tonight's dinner menu, or yesterdays Dr. Phil. In this less than affluent neighborhood, in this small apartment playground, in this... Their world... everyone looked so happy. This short lived red-light experience proved to be an enlightening one for me. These children didn't know new cars, or cell phones, or brand new gym shoes every 6 months. These kids knew nothing but the joy of those monkey bars and those mothers, the comfort of park benches and camaraderie. It just kinda puts life in perspective, ya know?
On a MUCH different note... the new Ashlee Simpson song just played on MTV. I've gotta say... not too shabby. I kinda like it. In fact, I like it a lot.
Signing off...
Another Day,
Tempa
